I'd consider someone a newbie as a female bodybuilding fan, if they do not know the infamous "WPW dress"
that has been flexed and stretched so many times over the years at WPW
Magazine. Some of the top names in the world of bodybuilding have put
that dress through its paces via water soaks -- all the way to vicious
flexes! I wonder when Bill Jentz (owner WPW) and his team will retire
the outfit?
There is speculation that the
dress is made from special fibers that enhanced the vacularity and
hardness of the women who flex in the dress. As you can see from this
picture:
Perhaps the dress will one day
be archived into the Hall of Fame in FBB Ville! One can only wonder
what it might fetch on Ebay.
As I'm sure most of you are aware, Iris Kyle was "Marked Down" at the 2008 Arnold Classic due to the judges assessing a "knot on her glutes" according tomajor online bodybuilding publications. There has been much discussion on Internet forums about the entire situation. Markding down a competitor for persceived spot injections at contest is the IFBB's right, however, it seems very unpopular on all sides as the sport has no clear direction with performance enhancing usage among its athletes -- men or women for that matter.
There has been a lot more discussion on the women's side with overdone or obvious performance enhancement sides affects. If the IFBB truly wants to clean up the sport, the simple solution is to rigorously test all the athletes ramdomly throughout the year. If the IFBB feels the testing of athletes is too expensive, then clearly, they are not a professional organization for athletes. Amateur organizations have tested their top placing athletes in the same sport.
I know many readers want the sport to grow in popularity, however, in today's environment it seems that it's still small and considered a fringe sport.
