MW Suzanne Germano won the overall. They say she had the most ripped ass in the contest.

I finally know the difference between figure and bodybuilding.

Figure was pretty bad though, I wasn't there but looked at alot of pictures and some of the winners looked like they had barely been lifting more than six months.

Figure was so so. bikini was pretty good - at least they looked like they worked out. FBB was dismal - a few good standouts only.

I looked at the pics over at MD.com. Looks Suzanne Germano was the only athlete on stage who resembled a bodybuilder.

Twenty years ago I watched Lenda Murray win the same show, beating Gisele Hadad (later to be known as Sass), as well as Danielle LeRoy. (The men's show went to some guy named Ken "Flex" Wheeler. Ever heard of him?)

In the following several years, contestants included Debbie Muggli, Tazzie Colomb, Annie Rivieccio, Kim Chizevsky, Carmen Brady, Betty Pariso, Lesa Lewis, Lisa Aukland, Bonnie Priest, Heather Policky, Kim Perez, Kristy Hawkins, Christine Sabo, and Amanda Dunbar, to name but a few.

And now we've got... This.

Catastrophe.

Strangely, though, the quality of the physiques seems to have deteriorated in the men's division as well.
Is bodybuilding on its way out for good?

BALCO, Operation Raw Deal, Oklahoma City, etc....  need I go on?

Well, that, and the fact that judges only award freaky conditioning anymore, and ignore quality muscle mass, symmetry and proportion.  The competitors have no incentive to build muscle anymore - all they have to do is waste away like AIDS patients and do 3 hours of cardio to win a show.

I disagree.
I thought there were several good fbb physiques on stage at this show.  The problem is that there just weren't very many competitors overall...only 17 ladies between the three classes.  Of those I was impressed with Suzanne Germano, Kristi Bruce, Roxanne Edwards, and Dana Richards.  Christina Taylor, Alisha Morrow, and Andrea Giacomi all looked good, too.

Since there's no pro card awarded at this show, you're not going to see the best fbbs in the industry here, especially during a recession.

Here is Suzanne Germano.  She used to be a figure competitor.

One girl that caught my eye is newcomer and lush beauty Catherine Skelly.  With a few more years of training and refining, she can be a contender.  She has some good leg size. She needs to add some more details.

Wow, Alisha Morrow is a muscle sweethart!  Gorgeous, with a promising physique.

Catherine Skelly also has a lot of potential, that's sure, but she's not there yet in terms of conditionning.  Hope she'll take the time to get there and bring up her physique, she has a great future ahead of her

The big, attractive blonde is a firefighter, so I'm led to believe that some of the other competitors are able to use some things that she might have to avoid for professional reasons.  That's not confirmed, mind you, just a guess.

The large blonde shows up to every show that way. Cardio is not restricted by the fire dept as far as I know. And I think Dana should have won the show.

Police officers and firefighters are the worst offenders when it comes to this.  Everyone of them I know, when not on, have been or plan to be to "make it"

OK, so where's the freaky conditioning? Cos I don't see so much of that either.

There was in fact quite a few excellent physiques among both the fitness and figure competitors. The reason you didn't notice them is because they were penalized for being to muscular or hard, which is becoming a common occurrence at the national shows now. You would have thought with the bikini division now a part of the equation, the best physiques would be rewarded. It seems all they want is Hooter girls that do cardio and then the rest can settle in as bodybuilders. Its not the judges fault though because it all comes from the top of the food chain. Not hard to figure out who that is either. They are going to screw this whole thing up.
It was good to see that the more muscular ladies were busy doing shoots all weekend compared to the 'Sunday winners shoot models' ...non paying of course.
