Eye of the Tiger Strongman in Philadelphia

Postby JamieReed » Mon May 31, 2010 8:16 am

Hey guys! I took some time away from everything last year and when i tried coming back, thought maybe i just didn't remember the right site when the page came up "suspended"... anyway, i just wanted to give you guys a heads up, I'll be competing in my first strongman/woman competition this coming Saturday in Philadelphia at the Arena! I can't wait, training has been going really well and it's been A LOT of fun to lift without regard to "are my shoulders getting too big, are my legs getting too big?" :-) Unfortunately, i'm still not too big... but maybe a little much for figure these days ;-) So, sticking to my resurrected love of "performance sports", my training partner convinced me to compete with him this weekend. I'll post where it will be broadcast live on the internet as soon as i get a chance, and here's some vids from training! Thanks for the support!

Attempt at 230 lb atlas stone... had to rethink this and figure out the technique... popping the 175 like crazy now!

The deficit squat wasn't enough weight . . . you didn't bloody your shins and you didn't leave any vertebra shrapnel lodged in the wall behind you. ;)

Um, holy sh*t!!! THAT was cool!
Success at being a schmoe is like pouring Miracle-Gro® on your character defects.

Nice, there aren't too many women doing stong(wo)man stuff, which is quite entertaining to watch -- also for the people who are not so much into more conventional strength sports like weight- and powerlifting.

All the best for the competition. Keep us informed.

Haha, yeah, i try to keep from getting bored myself, just happens to entertain the peanut gallery as well ;-) I was at a bunch of the NY Shows last year, but have been teaching a kids class on Saturdays and skipped the recent shows...
And yes, that did pretty much feel like i may leave spine shrapnal... Felt better than the yoke though...
