Gladiatrix stars Lindsay Mulinazzi as Lena Braun and Tatianna Butler as Katrina Grande who runs
and controls a game called "The Hunt". The underlying premise of this film are hunters who enjoy
tracking down women to kill. The battlefield is located in fields, the woods and a creek. Lena Braun is
lured to "The Hunt" by an advertisement in the newspaper. Lena Braun meets the requirements with her
muscular ex-commando type physique and training. Lena takes up Katrina's (Tatianna) offer to
undertake the hunt. Lena drives to the Hunt while eating a few Burger King meals on the way.
Lena arrives at the compound of Katrina Grande, which of course has a fairly large weight room.
Lena changes into her battle gear (spandex camo outfit) and pumps some weights. Katrina
enters the scene to inform Lena that the Hunt is not a game, it's do or die. The winner of the Hunt must kill all
the hunters, if Lena is successful she gets the entire compound. There's is no turning back now! Lena
refuses to do the Hunt.... unfortunately she has no choice. As Lena struggles to leave she's drugged
and left lying in an open field, the "Hunt" as begun.
Lena careful begins tracking down the hunters. It doesn't take long before Lena skillfully
terminates one hunter with her knife. Soon, Lean is picking off the hunters like flies. One hunter
is bear hunged to death against a tree, while another is crushed by Lena's powerful leg lock from a
tree. The final showdown begins at the creek, where Lena goes head to head against Katrina and
her trusty side kick (Charles Peeples?). Lena wastes no time, and quickly knife throws Trey Scott to
death. As Katrina puts it: "Where's the fun in killing him so quickly. Wham, Bam, thank you Mame?"
Will Lena Braun survive her battle against Katrina? Hmm.. ?
Final Thoughts....
Gladiatrix just didn't hit my list as a favourite overall. The acting ability was poor and the dialogue was limited.
Although this film is likely the best product Awefilms has created to date, there's definite room for
improvement going forward. With a limited budget it is difficult to produce a quality science fiction or
fantasy type film. We must keep in mind that Gladiatrix was filmed over the course of one weekend. With
a tight shooting schedule and limited financial resources, Gladiatrix is decent.
I thought the behind the scenes part was more enjoyable that the movie itself. Trey Scott was hilarious
armwrestling Tatianna. Speaking of Tatianna, she is one tough, busty, muscular lady! Lindsay Mulinazzi
has a pretty good physique, however, I found her screen presence weak. Tatianna was spectacular playing
Katrina Grande in Gladiatrix. The only good part about Gladiatrix were the fight scenes
with Tatianna in the creek. Gladiatrix just didn't bite at all, espically since the actual film only
ran perhaps 35-40 minutes.
